Why Yale? The main factors that brought me to Yale over the field were that I knew Yale would give me an excellent training; it was more couples-friendly than pretty much every other program we interviewed at; and the pediatric residents seemed happier and friendlier with one another than at other hospitals. Now having been here more than a year, I've learned that those things are definitely true. I can't stress enough how supportive, close-knit, and fun-loving the Yale peds community is. In my opinion, New Haven is big enough for my tastes, but small enough to easily drive to a local hike on a half day off.

How do you stay busy outside the hospital? I spend a lot of my free time going on runs with some combo of friends and my dog, hiking, enjoying the bars and restaurants in New Haven. Pre-covid I loved getting together with co-residents for game nights and potlucks, and intra-covid that's turned more into barbecues and porch-hangouts.
